Each piece of art reflects an individual's unique story and cannot be exactly replicated, even if photographed or printed. At any age, there is still more to discover about your own individuality through art.
TEEN LESSONS
By the end of Middle School, a student's sustained interest in the visual arts often becomes evident. Upon entering high school, many begin to consider potential career paths, with some viewing art school as a viable option. In such cases, preparing an art portfolio is essential.
LESSONS GRADES 6-8
By the end of Elementary School, an individual knows that they are interested in extending their knowledge in the arts. Yes, they have art class in school, but maybe your child wants even more art time. The way we interpret the elements and principles, combined with our unique personal stories, makes each piece of art individual.
LESSONS GRADES 3-5
You might say to yourself "my child loves art". Increasing our knowledge about the elements and principles of art helps us grow as artists. These are what are known as the fundamentals of art. As we study these concepts, we can gain a deeper grasp of what improves our work.
Lessons are designed to teach students the basics of drawing with charcoal and graphite. Contour drawing, overall composition, tonal values such as lights and darks, shade and shadow are taught. Drawing subjects may include still life arrangements, landscape, architectural, or portraiture.
Learning to paint typically involves a basic drawing of some sort. Once there is a drawing to work with, you can learn the techniques of painting in different media: watercolor, pastels, oil and acrylic. It is not always a linear process. Painting is an exploration. Not every painting is a finished refined piece. Some paintings are simple outlines of a future more in-depth work of art. It’s helpful to study color theory, mixing and applying paint, and techniques for how to portray effects of light, space and texture.​
